A sexual behaviour disorder which is characterized by excessive sexual desires, fantasies, and behaviour that can interfere with day-to-day activities and relationships is called Hypersexual disorder. Coping mechanisms are habits or strategies which are used to deal with anxiety, panic or stress. In some cases, hypersexuality can be used as an abnormal coping mechanism to manage or lower emotional distress. For example, some individuals may engage in excessive sexual activities such as compulsive sexual behaviour, sexual impulsivity, watching pornography or risky sexual conduct to distract themselves from emotions which are causing them stress or to seek a sense of authority. By incorporating these healthy coping mechanisms into their daily lives, individuals can learn to manage their hypersexuality in alternate and healthier ways and improve their overall well-being.
